RenameFromFolders does not collect, transmit, sell or share any information. Everything it does happens on your PC.

What the app accesses

The folders you choose, and the file and folder names inside them, so it can show a preview and rename files. This happens only when you pick a folder, with your own Windows permissions. Nothing else on your PC is accessed.

What the app stores, and where

The app keeps a record of renames so you can review and undo them, and a diagnostic log. Both stay on your PC in %LocalAppData%\RenameFromFolders.

  • History: the folder path, naming recipe, old and new file names, and a short size-and-sample fingerprint of each file used to confirm it is the same file when you undo.
  • Logs: operational messages such as how many files were renamed. Logs older than 30 days are removed automatically.

Because folder and file names can contain personal information, the history may too. It never leaves your PC.

What the app does not do

  • No network access, advertising, analytics, tracking, accounts or sign-in.
  • It does not upload files or file contents.

Your choices

  • Delete one history entry, or clear finished entries, from the History screen.
  • Remove everything the app stores by deleting the folder %LocalAppData%\RenameFromFolders. Uninstalling does not remove it, so undo remains possible after a reinstall.
