ShelfSearch
ShelfSearch builds a local index of filenames and folder paths from each drive you register. When a drive is offline you still see where a file lives, so you know which disk to plug back in.
Who it is for: For people whose files are spread across several drives and who need to find things fast.
What it does
- Registers external and removable drives, mapped drives and chosen network shares
- Lets you search while a drive is disconnected, and shows where it lives
- Displays each drive's connection status, capacity and free space
- Exports search results to a CSV file
- Keeps the index on your own PC
What it doesn't do
- Open or inspect the files on your drives
- Send anything off the machine, or depend on a cloud service to work
