Select the folder to check
Choose a photo folder and decide whether to include subfolders. For Google Takeout, keep the JSON metadata files alongside the corresponding images and enable sidecar parsing.
Fix My Photo Dates helps you understand why photos show the wrong date and what information is available to restore it. You review the proposal before a repair is applied.
Use the app on exported or copied photo files. It reads each file, checks available date clues, and presents a repair plan you can inspect before applying.
Choose a photo folder and decide whether to include subfolders. For Google Takeout, keep the JSON metadata files alongside the corresponding images and enable sidecar parsing.
The app checks embedded photo dates first, followed by Google Takeout sidecars, recognized filename patterns, chronological clues, and optional OCR for a date visibly printed on the image. Files without a reliable result stay marked uncertain.
Inspect the current and proposed date, source, and confidence. Apply a timezone offset, space undated files across a known interval, or manually override individual dates. Exclude files you do not want to change.
Choose Windows creation time, Windows modified time, embedded EXIF dates, or a combination. EXIF editing updates selected date fields; RAW EXIF editing is an explicit opt-in.
The app records repair information locally for rollback and can save a human-readable run log. Back up irreplaceable files before metadata changes.
Embedded photo metadata: EXIF capture and create dates. Google Takeout: matching JSON sidecar timestamps. Filenames: supported date patterns. Image content: optional OCR for a printed timestamp. Chronology: inference across sequential filenames. When the app cannot find reliable evidence, you remain in control of the choice.
