Quick start / Help
Get set up.
Get back to it.
TrayPilot is a Windows 11 system-tray dashboard. Use this guide to open the flyout, configure its shortcut, and understand when a control depends on your hardware.
01 / OPEN
Open the tray dashboard
Launch TrayPilot. It stays in the Windows notification area rather than opening a traditional main window. Click its tray icon to open the flyout, or use the global keyboard shortcut.
The default shortcut is Ctrl + Alt + Space. Clicking outside the flyout dismisses it; using the shortcut brings it forward without toggling it closed.
02 / SHORTCUT
Change the keyboard shortcut
- Open the flyout from the tray icon.
- Select Keyboard shortcut at the bottom to expand its editor.
- Choose Ctrl + Alt, Ctrl + Shift, or Alt + Shift, then choose Space, A-Z, or F1-F11.
- Select Save shortcut. The saved combination takes effect immediately.
To disable the global shortcut, switch off Show TrayPilot from anywhere and save. If a combination is unavailable, TrayPilot keeps the previous active shortcut and reports the conflict. Settings are stored locally under %LOCALAPPDATA%\TrayPilot.
03 / DISPLAY
Display and brightness support
External monitor brightness depends on DDC/CI support from the display, connection, adapter, and graphics driver. Some supported laptop panels can use a Windows brightness fallback. Refresh rates shown depend on the display modes available to Windows.
HDR capability and state are informational in this release; TrayPilot does not switch HDR on or off.
04 / AUDIO & NETWORK
Audio and network controls
Audio controls use the Windows playback endpoints available on your PC. TrayPilot can switch playback devices and control speaker or microphone mute; per-application audio routing is not included.
Network activity is estimated from local adapter byte counters. It shows aggregate download and upload throughput, not individual app usage, and does not inspect packet contents.
05 / REQUIREMENTS
Windows version and privacy
TrayPilot targets Windows 11 version 22H2 (build 22621) or later. Windows 10 is not supported. No account is required; the app has no telemetry or cloud service. Settings and diagnostic logs remain on your PC.
