App privacy notice · reviewed 15 October 2026

Who is responsible

The Microsoft Store listing identifies the publisher as Nikatsam. This notice describes the app's data handling; it does not invent a separate company identity or contact address.

Photo and file information processed

When you choose folders, the app enumerates supported photo files and reads file content, file metadata and, for supported JPEGs, selected EXIF capture-date fields. SHA-256 hashes are calculated to compare byte-identical content and verify copies. Hashes, paths and timestamps are used to show scan results, complete safe copies, and support quarantine recovery or date-change undo.

Cloud/offline placeholders, inaccessible folders and reparse-point paths are not silently traversed. Files that change or cannot be read are reported as incomplete or unavailable rather than treated as verified.

Uploads, analytics and advertising

The app contains no photo-upload, cloud-storage, advertising or analytics feature. Photo content, filenames, hashes, reports and action details are not sent by the app to a developer-operated server. Internet access is not used for photo scanning or editing.

Windows and Microsoft Store may perform their own operating-system, licensing, account, purchase or update communications. Those are Microsoft platform services and are separate from the app’s local photo processing.

Local history, activity log and settings

Summary job history is stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\FixMyPhotoLibrary\history\jobs.jsonl. It contains job IDs, tool names, timestamps, outcomes and counts without per-photo paths. The human-readable activity.txt in that folder records selected tools/folders, scan starts and outcomes, theme changes, report exports, and source-to-destination paths for copy, quarantine and restore actions. The app can open or export this TXT log.

The action journal is stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\FixMyPhotoLibrary\journal\actions.jsonl and retains paths, hashes and old/new timestamps required to recover quarantined files or conditionally undo date changes. The selected appearance preference (System, Light or Dark) is stored locally in %LOCALAPPDATA%\FixMyPhotoLibrary\settings.txt.

CSV and JSON reports are written only to a destination you choose. Corrected-date copies and quarantine files are also written only to folders you select. They are not automatically uploaded.

Your controls and retention

You choose folders, confirm mutating actions and can inspect or export the full TXT activity log from the app’s History screen. Clearing the job-summary list does not delete the activity log, action journal, quarantine manifest or reports. Those files can be removed by you in File Explorer after any recovery need has ended. You can set the app appearance to System, Light or Dark; deleting the setting returns it to System.

This website

The public product website is a static GitHub Pages site. It has no forms, advertising pixels or third-party font/CDN requests, apart from Google Analytics. This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are viewed. Google Analytics sets cookies and sends visit data, such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type, to Google. See how Google uses this data. GitHub operates the hosting platform and may process standard web request logs under its own terms. This is separate from the Windows application’s local photo processing.

Contact and policy updates

The product owner is responsible for keeping legal publisher details, a privacy contact and any required regional disclosures current in the Store listing and this notice. Review this notice whenever the app's data handling, package or Store declarations change.
